A Few Words About Us
Africa’s future depends on who its youth become tomorrow. And who Africa’s youths became depends on quality of formal education they receive today. More than 70 per cent of Africa’s youths reside in the rural communities, with dilapidated, under-funded, under-resourced schools and limited educational aspirations for students.
The Canada-Africa Foundation for Rural Youth Education (CAFRE) aims to provide scholarships and much need school supplies to needy rural students in Africa. CAFRE will also provide material support for teachers in rural schools in Africa.
It is our belief that the best education is the one students get in their environment. But a student cannot learn effectively in the poverty-stricken, inhospitable and sometimes hostile environments in many rural schools in Africa.
By the same token, an under resourced teacher cannot teach effectively. We therefore aim to work with Canadian donors, African teachers and parents to provide African students with modest financial support for school supplies, food, medical care, school transportation, registration and other fees. We also seek to support rural teachers so they can teach more effectively and remain at their posts.
